no Click at dme relay, has power tho.. please help. stuck in the garage.

Main dme relay does not click. No spark,no fuel. Have a few relays here, none click on. Car doesn't start when relay is jumped either. I'm stumped.

Car ran before.. took a bunch of stuff apart to clean..what did I forget? Dme bad? What would stop the dme relay from kicking on with the key?

what ever you messed with is your problem. Car ran, you messed with 'something' and now it does not run. And we should know what you 'messed' with so that we can tell you what your problem is

No. I'm not new to e30s or this car. I don't 'mess with' anything..what would cause the dme and fuel pump relay not to kick is the question.

The main relay is operated by the DME when it sees the START signal from the ignition switch. The lack of that signal or a lack of power on the engine management power cable from the battery can cause what you are seeing. Well, it could be a blown DME or bad engine wiring harness.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

How does the signal get from the ignition to the dme? I can make the relay click when I ground pin 36 at the ecu..

That depends on what car you have. Early cars (through 8/87) route the start signal to the DME by a three pin connector. Later cars route the signal through C101.

Does the dme ground through the case? I don't have it mounted in the dash...just sitting in the glove box.

The DME grounds through the collection of brown wires that attach to the right side strut tower.

i checked, and checked. Then last night i took all of the 3 relays off of the strut tower out of their sockets..And what do you know,Fuel pump and DME relay swapped. Doh!

Check your wiring at the starter.. make sure the black or black/yellow or green wire are connected. Male sure the main cable is tight too but not overtightened. Make sure your engine grounds are also well. Check all other grounds
