My hood pops fine but my brothers has to be pulled from the front when the lever is pulled. Mine will jump out a couple inches and we would like the other car to do the same. Is this a bad cable? We just replaced the hood shock and that did nothing. The cable isn't broken, still am able to unlatch it from inside just doesn't pop. Any suggestions?

get some white lithium spray grease and spray it on the latch mechanism and the hinge pivots, that should do it.

I was using some kind of degreaser to see if that works but it didn't do the trick so I will try so of the spray you suggested

One more thing..The lever is really lose could this be the reason why it isn't popping? Could be not completely taking the latch away from the hood. Any way to tighten the it?Comment

you ever take the hood off? There is a metal tension spring that runs through the bar on the bottom of the hood...ah shit fuck ARGGH...i never know the names of anything..hold on...

where I highlighted there
there are two plates on each side of where the hood connects to the frame..these plates hold this long spring under tension, and I assume its for this reason.
