Rear defroster - smell of wires burning

    Hello,

Recently after winter I've had a problem - something was terribly smelling in my car, like burning wires. I could not get it at first, started turning all random things off in my car, and it only stopped after i turned off the rear window defroster.
So the issues is - as soon as i press the defroster button, i can smell wires burning in about a minute. If i turn it off - the smell disappears.
I am yet to check the wiring behind the switch, but i have fully disassembled the switch itself and compared to another one - no problems in it, no plastic burning there.
What else should i check? Did anyone else have this problem?
A quick search did not bring anything to me.
    Thank you,

    Max.

Get the car's wiring diagrams (http://wedophones.com/BMWManualsLead.htm) and start checking the defroster circuit, starting at the fuse box.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.
