For those of you with tinted e30's!

Is your rear defroster 100% functional? I'm concerned because my cousin got his e30 tinted at a local shop last year and they FUBAR'D his defroster lines. Did you give the tint installer any special instructions? Thinking about going 50% or 35% ceramic tint all around. Is Llumar any good? I have a sedan so how much would tinting 5 windows be approximately? Thanks in advance!

Damn that's disheartening. Making me reconsider if I really want tint.

No worries dude, our cars are so small, that 5 mins of heat and open windows usually do the trick and clear the windows.

That's weird... most shops fuck the elements up removing tint. Or at least those are the stories I've heard.

But as it currently sits absolutely everything on my car works. I don't want to ruin the integrity of the vehicle aha.

I don't think it's the tinting that does the damage, it's the tint removal that breaks the lines. If your window's never been tinted before then I'm pretty sure you'll be fine. If they need to remove old tint, kiss those lines goodbye.

Talk to a tint shop. Any good shop will be honest with you about possible damage.

Really? I've heard/seen them go to town on the lines with a squeegee when they are prepping the window for tint. I'm assuming this is where the damage comes from.

I've got old tint so I did some research on damage from removal. I never came across risk during install. But it sounds like you've got more experience than I do.

Haha its not first hand experience so what do I know? My cousin was pretty bummed when it happened. He tried to take it back to the shop to complain and the asshats laughed him out saying he did it to himself. Makes me wary of other hands touching my car.

Well my car has tint and fully functional lines, to answer the original question. I'm only guessing that risk of damage during install is low, so grain of salt and all that.

Take it to a real tint shop. Not to Billybob and Leroy doing it in the back parking lot of there two bay garage that was build back in the 50's from reclaimed lumber.
