Engine chokes & dies on start up

Just changed my fuel filter and my fuel pump(used) on the e30, when I start her up I get a very strange idle reving up to 2.5k and down to 0 for about 4 times, sometimes it dies , If I step on the gas I save it and just idles weird until I drive it a bit. Also there's a strange sound coming from under the car, sounds like I'm loosing air from a tire

Sounds like a disconnected vacume line. Did you remove/break the brake booster vacume line when replacing the filter ?

Turns out it was just a dirty idle control valve
