Corner Weight

I just looked under the carpeting in the right rear corner of my E30 325ic and saw a big block of weight. Probably about 40-50 pounds. Anyone know why this is there? The battery is in the right front, so is this to balance front and rear weight? Just curious, thanks.

Balance the weight of the driver I believe.

I'm guessing is because they regularly have the battery there so when is on the front they are trying to mantain the balance as original.
