Valve Adjustment of a M10 ?!?

When should I do it (km intervals) ?!?
I can hear the ticking og the valves both at idle and of course at higher engine load,but I dont know how much is enough,if you know what I mean...
I really dont know when valve adjustment happenned on my M10 (if ever).
So,should I do it and why ?!? Is it pricey ?!?

I think BMW recommends you do it every 15k miles. I do mine about then.

It shouldn't cost more than one hour labor (hopefully less) and the cost of a valve cover gasket.

It's not difficult to do by yourself, but it'll take a couple valves before you get a good feel for it.
