    Man Down!!!

I am supposed to take my brothers car home this weekend to go to Winsor for some gambling with money I do not have. I called him today and he told me I might not be able to take it because he was driving while delivering the paper and someone here at OSU forgot to put a manhole cover back on....shit. I haven't seen the car but Dave told me that it drove okay but he really couldn't tell if it was making any noises. He thinks it is but he doesn't know if that is just him hearing other noises in the car.

He was going slow and was about to stop when it happened. He was able to back out, after taking pictures, and continue. Dave is going to take it to a shop to have it looked at but what can we look for to see if anything is seriously wrong with it? He thinks it might have hit on the jackpoint of the car, Could this have happened?

    Thanks for the help

Tie Rods, Control Arms, check the front subframe, check if the oil pan is leaking. Dunno what else off the top of my head right now.

Do you think that this could have bent the frame?

I don't think it could have bent the frame, perhaps much more delicate things like control arms, tie rods etc... Does it drive okay? Is the steering wheel in the same position? Does it pull left/right?

"Having won more road races than any other model in history, the E30 M3 is considered by many to be the world's most successful road race car." - Simply put, E30s kick ass.

Check the oil pan for damage as well, maybe the steering rack.

I had the same thing happen.
Tried backing out, and going forward.
                      Repeatedly.
                      Then, I lost my fluid.
                      Bent my control rod.

                      Charlie, I had to....

You should also check into charging the city of Columbus for damamges. Not that I'm for the lawsuit happy nation in which we reside. But a forgotten manhole cover poses serious risks. The least the city can do is compensate you for the damages.

good luck, hopefully not too much is damaged

Well, My brother found out what was wrong. He had a proffesor of automotive stuff take a look at it. He look at all the things you guys told me too and everything is fine. So what is wrong? He did some more exploring and found that the rim is bent to HELL. He says it is bent and not round anymore and hence the weird little noice that we are hearing is the thud, thud, thud of shit going wrong!

You think this can be bent back or is scrap?

I'd take it to a wheel shop and see what they say before deciding to scrap it or rule out fixing it and get a price quote from them to see if it would be worth it
