    replace driveshaft u joints

noticed the u joints on my replacement driveshaft (got it used) seem a bit notchy. i want to replace.

    pelican has two part numbers.

i got the driveshaft from an 87 cabrio...which is the correct #.

I remember when I thought I could fix my driveshaft for under $50, but alas, they may be available, but not replaceable without some very specialized alignment tools. they are generally considered non-replaceable, as they are pressed in, without snap rings, so getting them straight is near impossible. :(

I'd get new driveshaft before I tried to replace the U-joint.

QFT.. The driveshaft would have balanced after it was rebuilt as well.

rebalancing and replacing u joints will cost next to nothing compared to a new $600 driveshaft.

I was thinking more along the lines of replacing it with a good used one.
