    Brake Calipers.

Ok, so my right front brake caliper is pretty much shot, the pistion does not like to go back in at all. Try as i might, i cannot find a place online that sells brake calipers for the E30. Closest i've found is the Caliper kits on Eap4parts.com, but they sell kits for 2 diff. manufacturers (girling and ATE).

    So i was wondering if
    a) you guys could help me determine what type of caliper i have
    b) know of any place where i can get a replacement.

I have 2 fronts I'm trying to sell. I'd prefer to sell both at the same time. They were painted red by the prior owner but they were never installed so they look freshly painted. I never had a use for them so they've just been sitting in my basement.

Most e30's are girling, check on your master cylinder, that's the easiest part to see without removing the wheel and looking at it.

Swing wild, brake later, don't apologize.

It'll say Girling on the caliper fairly obviously if it is...I've never seen an ATE front caliper before.

If you have girling it will say so on the caliper.
Do you have an oreilly auto parts near you? I just bought one from them for $36.
Alot cheaper than any of the online sources.
I would call around, you can probably get it locally for cheap.

Hmm. WHat exaclty is involved with replacing the Caliper... I have a pretty good idea but just want to see if there are any steps i might have forgotten.

                  Anyone ever rebuild a caliper?
My driver's rear is eating brakepads like I eat Jack in the Box when I'm drunk.
I was wondering if once a caliper is semi-seized if it was rebuildable or if you had to have another donor.
                  Thanks.

Not sure about in the states, but over here you can get a caliper rebuild kit, that includes new seals etc, from the dealer, I did mine recently, and it does seem to have improved braking.

Yeah, you can here too. I have one at home waiting for me, just not sure if I should use my caliper that is semi-seized, or get another donor.
