    splined coupling wont mate with steering shaft!

    wtf is the trick? When I dropped the rack everythign went smoothly. now I cant get the couplings back on! I tried wedging a screwdriver in the slot and it doesnt help much.

    Any tricks? Thanks guys!

    well there is a special way it has to go. If you are off by a spline it wont work, at least with the one that comes through the firewall. it has to go on so that when the bolt is put through the joint, it will sit flat agains or perpendicular to the flat spot thats on the shaft. You can also only use airbag joints, the other ones have the wrong size on the top

      I had trouble getting it on with just my hands so I was able to lightly tap it with a hammer and then it went on.

        It's gotta go in perfectly straight, or it will bind up. It's easy to mess up the splines, then it will make it harder to get them back together.

        Also, when removing or replacing these, you MUST take the pinch bolt completely out, not just loosen it....
