I have my door card off, and wanted to modify the door lock...
I want to use the lock knob to lock the doors,
Right now it is idiot proofed to keep from locking the keys in the car.
If the driver's door is closed, I can lock the door with the little door
lock knob in the top edge of the door, but if the door is open, it is
disabled by some sort of interlock mechanism.
If I open the door and trip the latch, it thinks the door is closed, so I think
the interlock is part of the door latch mechanism. I have poked around and
looked, but can't find how it works.
I would like to disable the interlock system so I don't have to use the key
to lock the doors. It takes quite a bit of torque on the key to lock the door.
It takes less torque to unlock the door with the key. I'm concerned about
breaking off the key when I lock the door, and I'm tired of using the key in
the trunk lock to lock the doors.
Anyone know how the mechanism works and how I can disable the idiot proofing?
