Sunroof issues (manual crank skips)

I bought this 318is not to long ago. When i bought it the sunroof cables/assemblies were broken, so i replaced them with the cables from my touring(which had a 100% working sunroof). The sunroof works now, but i have to help it along to open/close it or else i hear the gears grinding/skipping. Is there any easy fix to this? or do i have to remove the whole gear assembly from my touring?

sounds like there is a problem within the transmission (gear assembly) swap the motor/ transmission from the touring and it should be fine
