    strange random no start

So here is the deal. My starter started going a while back. after some slow starting it just died and got nothing. Removed it and found the small gear was loose so clearly it wasn't catching anymore. I rebuilt the starter, installed it and works like a charm. Until one day I sat for a bit running and then turned it off. I tried to restart after sitting for 5-10 min and got nothing again.

Waited and tried..waited and tried..then I heard a few clicks and then slowly she cranked over again. Got it home turned it off..and tried it again and started no problem..did this a few times to try to repeat symptom. nothing.

    so...what could be doing this?

    suggestions?

    thanks.

I know on my eta it would randomly give me long starts and sudden no starts. was one of the sensor wires on the starter, the plastic protective connector was loose and with time was backing the connector off.

might list abit more of the sympthoms when it does happen. Have you checked the cps?

The fist action would be to replace the starter with a factory reman unit and to clean all of the primary power & ground connections.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

the cps would still allow the car to turn over but not allow the motor to run. at least that has been my experience.

I will double check all the ground connections. Seems to happen when the motor has been running for some time.
