RPM needle problem!!!!!!!!!!!!!

when i rev up while driving, my rpm needle doesnt go up smoothly like it should, it bounces. like say im at 2 then it wont move until my engine reaches 3 then the needle will bump up to 3 and so fourth. what the hell is wrongg???

nope its just the rpm gauge. i checked out my crank position sensor and from what i see, its all black and grimey. could this be the problem? probably needs cleaning?

when the crank sensor goes out you won't be able to rev over like 2.5-4k, don't ask me how I know.
