pads should work just fine if you grind the rotors. I was getting vibration while braking and just did the rotors while keeping the same pads and it all worked out fine.

If your front brakes grind, then most likely one or more of the pads has worn down to the metal. Therefore they need to be replaced.
I would recommend getting some drilled or slotted rotors if you often encounter brake fade, if not, oem stuff should work just fine.

Be sure to scuff up the new rotors, and clean them up with brakeclean before installing. This will help the pads seat better.
Also, it's imperative that the caliper sliders are moving freely. Use some anti-seeze or caliper lube on them, to keep them free.

If the pads are good, What was causing the brakes to grind ?
            Do you mean pulsate?

no they were grinding pretty bad, i was surprised to take off my wheel and still have pads, i have a steep drivway and towards the bottem i didnt even want to knwo what i had done to brakes, i have been braking less hard, but i can still feel a bit of grind. it almsot seems to not be as bad though, i will let you know

Yes, define "grind." Do the brakes do it all the time, or just under heavy braking? If it's just under heavy braking, that "grinding" you hear may be the ABS kicking in. If not, check your rotors.

Did you look at all the pads? the ones on the inside, and the rear?

Just clarifying what I meant by "grind". I was referring to turning (i.e. resurfacing) the rotors.

I would stay away from cross drilled rotors. I'd either get slotted or stock rotors.

well for about 2 days straight they were grinding on somwhat hard braking not to hard, but tonight comeing back from my girlfriends house i hit the brakes hard to see and they were perfect, i have no clue what went on. and yes i checked the inside and outside of the pads. i will see how they do for the next few days. and to define the grinding more, it is hard but to describe but when my pads were really low last time and before i changed them it felt jsut like that. like there is low pads, but i dont know i am confused. peace out

i need to do my brakes as well.

the last time I did brakes was ummm... a long time ago before I got my rims... must have been like 3? or more yrs ago. back then I was stupid... I used all new ate blanks w/ the worst choice in brake pads ever... OEM dealership Textar fronts and PBR metalmaster rears... and guess what... now I need new rotors again since my rotors are all eaten up and beyond repair I think...

this time around I got Ate powerdiscs in front and ate blanks in teh rear.

as for pads, I HATE dust on my white wheels... so... at first I wanted teh hawk pads, but they don't make a rear fitment, and I don't want unbalanced friction on front and rears cuz that would just lead to uneven braking and/or premature pad wear/overheating/etc.

so my next choice was Pagid blue from truner... then I read the break in procedure... 9mph->65 at 400-500degC then blah blah blah... too complicated and I don't wanna do 90->65mph runs on the street.

then axxis ultimates, but ppl say they dust a bit.

so finally, I chose ebc green stuff pads form tirerack. they're on their way, and I'll have the brakes in next week sometime. I'll also be painting my calipers a nice blue color. ^^

I'll let you all know how tehy feel. I also have SS lines and the 25mm master cyl from a 735.

BTW, my brakes make a whooshing sound when I step on them... ?? WTF is that? I bled the system 2 times with over 1 liter of fluid.. so there's no bubbles... ow ell. I've just been living with it for the past 2 years, so whatevers.
