    Killin Time

I got bored today and decided I would paint my valve cover. I originally wanted to use a krinkle finish and then polish the fins. I could not find any high temp krinkle finish anywhere.
I went to several auto parts stores and found nothing. The last store I was at didn't even have high temp black :-( disappointed to say the least. I ended up at Home Depot of all places and found some Rust Oleom (spelling?) High Temp flat black.

It actually turned out very nice. It has a nice carbon black finish. I started to sand the fins but just wasn't working quite right so I resprayed and left it at that. I think it looks pretty good.
I am hoping to do the Intake manifold next.

Anyone have there covers powder coated? Cost estimates?

The paint looks good but scratches easily even with 6 coats of paints.

For some reason you led me to believe that you painted it while it was still on your engine. Is that true??

here is my engine. I painted it with the stuff off the car then sanded the edges. I just used some brake caliper paint i had laying around. It turned out to be pretty durable.

i painted mine, but honestly its not even worth doing unless you do both the valve cover and the intake manifold

That's because dave's car resembled all that was hotness in an E30 cabrio.
