    Temp Gauge Issue

Well ... got into the E30 today - cranked it up & noticed that the temp gauge was well below the normal position. Then as I drove it "bounced" wildly from the low side (cold) to the middle. As I continued it settled down & occasionally went to the spot its been at for the last month or so since ownership.

So ... can my gauge be fried? Can my sending unit be smoked? Could the wiring to either be a problem? Ground issue?

I know the answers to all these Q's - YES but wanted to see if anyone else had a similar situation so I can possibly narrow the field of what's actually going bad.

    Any input will be appreciated.
