    Farken fuel leak...

Yeah, turns out i had a pretty bad fuel leak, and i have been driving with it for about a week, wondering why my car is running like shit. So today, i am tinkering around under my hood when i smell it, STRONG. So i'm freakin' out searching for the culprit when i look down under my intake mani and see fuel dripping off of the mani right next to the injectors/fuel rail. I'm all pissed off thinking my #6 (or it could be #1) injector is leaking, but since when does that happen? Then i quickly disregard suspection of the fuel rail, and proceed to remove the fuel line that goes from the fuel rail to somewhere underneath the car, probly to the filter or tank. I notice the the end of the hose is all frayed and hairline cracking, so i get some wire cutters and clip it about 2cm back to expose fresh rubbah. I slip on the little hoseclamp, put the line back on the rail nipple, screw the shit out of it, and sop up the aftermath of the leakage. I'm hoping this is the problem, so i grit my teeth and start the ol' M20 up and VOILAHHHH!!!!! Not only did it stop the leak, but all my fuel pressure is back and my car is running like a champ again. 26mpg FTW!! So i suggest you all take a look at that hose, and if its dry and cracking, clip it, clip it good.

Replacing all fuel lines when I do my rebuild.

    Yaaay :)

Had a similar issue with my old Eta. It was gay. new hoses fixed it. Piece of mind was very nice!

Yeah, i need to replace all the lines sometime soon, it is starting to seep through the old hose making it damp with fuel.

It's number 12 on the diagram, although it doesn't really look like that.

i just had this same problem. i was driving and smelt gas, so i pull over and look under the hood while the car was running and see gas spraying out like a garden hose.

both fuel lines that go from the bottom of the car to the fuel delivery and return were cracked and dry rotted like crazy.

wasted 1/4 of tank of fuel, sucks with it being $3 a gallon
        NEED SOME VINYL STICKERS???

Fuck yeah, I nearly wasted a whole tank. Did you replace those lines?

I had this on my cabby - I did the kludge job and cut off the offending section as a band-aid until I could get some new hose and then I replaced it.

You can get the right size hose at PepBoys or such - its worht the couple bucks - you really dont want an engine fire.
