    323i Parts?

So, I bought myself a fairly clean, mechanically sound '83 323i(my first E30, and what's got me more interested in them), but I'm wondering about parts for if I decide to upgrade things, or replace them. I've been looking through a lot of sites that have either aftermarket or OEM parts, but very few of them have anything for the 323i, and most don't even mention it - my question is: how much of this stuff is interchangeable? Will 325i parts be compatible, or is the 323i a relic of yesteryear?

I'd also like to do a 5 speed swap, but I don't know if the getrag 260 from a 325i would just bolt on, or what. I'm thinking maybe I should keep this one fairly stock and keep looking for a later model 325i to mess with - maybe I'd feel less uneasy about modifying one of those since they're still somewhat common.

There's one issue that's bothering me, too, and that's what seems to be a main crankshaft seal oil leak; it's not a fast leak, but it's there.

Pretty much everything not attached to the m20b23 is standard 325i components. Suspension, interior, exterior, lighting, etc. are all things that will work. Differences are intake manifold related, ignition system related.

Me, MR 325, kronus, and multiple others here on the forum have 323i's, kronus is stuffing a 24v in his, I'm converting mine to Motronic 1.3, which essentially makes it a 325i with smaller displacement.

You guys are lucky my 320i shares all it's components with the 318. I'm stuffing a m30 in mine and doing a 1.3 motronic conversion.

So, basically, I just have to be mindful of the whole facelift/pre-facelift thing when it comes to exterior parts? Saw a thread on how to make changes to accommodate, but I don't really have the know-how.

Thanks for the reply, though. Seems E30s have a pretty big following over in the US.

There's a pretty good contingent there in Australia as well.
