I would do it every time you change the timing belt along with the v belts and dist cap and rotor, It is just easier doing it like that. I would prolly do my thermostat too. I Did all that when i replaced the HG in my turbo car as well as all the top end gaskets.:: PNW Crew ::

You can only tension a timing belt once, so if you have to go back in to do the water pumpl, you loose more money than you saved by cheaping out on a $60 maintenance item.
