    M20 turbo price question?

Hey all, not sure if this is the right forum to put this thread in, in not, please move it.

Anyways, i have an 84 325, obviously the amount of power sucks. So after im done rebuilding suspension (should be able to do it in next month or so) i'm planning to build a 2.7i, my friend did it and when i drove his car, it was amazing, so i figured it wont be a bad idea to gain more power while also making my car way more reliable (i didnt really do much to the engine since i got a car a year ago, and it had like 190K on it). But now i also thought what if i do a turbo on it as well, since ill be getting a lot of new parts for my 2.7 anyways i figured i might as well turbo it. My main question is the price though. Im looking to be running small turbo on low psi, and hoping to have about 200-240whp. I also need the car to be reliable, as a daily driver, for at least another 2 years, so that is why i dont want to make it a crazy 500whp car... The reason why im asking about the price is because ill be m60b44 swapping my car in 2 years (or sooner) and doing a complete restoration anyways, so if the turbo will take ton of money there is really no point of doing it for me, might as well just drive a 2.7 and save the money.

So basically to wrap it up, 200-240whp, new reliable parts. ill be doing all the work myself (except the tuning). I just need the approximate price for all the turbo parts i will need.

    Thanks a lot.

Too many variables to gauge pricing.
A 500whp car and 240whp turbo car can both be as unreliable as each other depending on variables.
Get a 2nd car to daily.
Waste of money if you really plan on m60 swapping it in the future.
You really need to research more!

Budget turbo setups + daily reliability isn't really a thing.

figure almost $500 for the megasquirt
$120 for the walboro / better fuel pump
        same for injectors
about $350-400 for a clutch that won't slip under the new power
$150-300 for an intercooler + piping
$200ish for a MLS head gasket or ARP studs
        $500ish for a chinese turbo & manifold
$X for the exhaust work, depends on if you do it yourself or have a shop do it

So you're looking at $2-3k and that's a very rough ballpark.

If I had to do everything again I'd do a turbo M20. Swaps are a serious pain in the ass... modified stock is so much better. Unless you're doing some form of racing where you need monster torque available all the time during low-ish speed turns (read: turns drifting into easy mode) v8's are only good for roasting the rear tires, getting horrendous gas mileage and dat noise. Also, fuck manual brakes

Yeah, 3k for a turbo on the engine I won't need in 2 years is not something I want to do. And I'm doing a v8 mostly for the "wow" factor and highway monster.
