    How to change fuel pump

Hey I'm looking for a bit of advice on changing the fuel pump that's in the fuel tank on my 85 318i. I know I have to take the seat out and then there's the plate that I remove then I take the pump out and solder the wires in place. Just wondering if there are any tips to make this job easier and quicker. Also unsure of which wires get soldered where, any help is appreciated!

Why do the wires have to be soldered? Don't they use plugs/connectors?

From what I've researched it says they'll need to be soldered but I haven't taken it apart and looked at it yet. I'll go to a wrecking yard and take one apart to see how it'll work

        Undo fuel lines and plugs.

Start by removing the level sending unit by undoing 4 nuts on top, pull it out.

Than rotate the hat counter clock wise to detach it from the tank and wiggle it out.

I don't see any wires to be soldered on your pump, its plug n play.

super easy job! you'll be fine. i didnt have to solder anything. just undid everything and after replacing, put everything back together the way it was. be careful for the ring/spacer thing when taking it off can easily fall in the tank. make sure hoses are back on tightly as well. if doesn't start right away give it a couple of more starts and will get back to normal.

Also, the less gas you have in your tank, the better.
