    Tricking the Automatic ECU

When people do automatic -----> manual conversions, there are always questions raised about how to trick the ecu to think that the car is in park....

For the people who have done it, How EXACTLY do you do it? how much voltage, to what pin on the ECU, color of wire... stuff like that.

I'd like to know for my own reasons (m30 conversion), and i've read alot about people not knowing how to do it as well....

There is no seperate ECU for the transmission, nor is there an automatic specific ECU for the engine. All you have to do is bypass the safety switch on the shifter that kills the starter when its not in park/neutral. Just bridge the wiring in the center console. Somebody will chime in with teh wire colors...

but the car is a 5 speed.... i'm doing an M30 conversion where the engine is from an automatic car, so i'd have to bridge the wire from the ECU.... not the center console...

Or if i just get a wiring harness from a 5 speed M20 (such as the one that came off of my car assuming it's motronic 1.3), then that should take care of it??

I think that i just hook up the ECU and go...... bc the wiring harness is from a 5 speed, and the car itself was a 5 speed.....

There is NO auto wiring harness on my car to begin with.... so there should be no wires to short out..... correct?

Solder blue/white wire (reverse switch) and blue/white wire (original harness) together

Solder (2) green/black wires, red/white?? wire (reverse switch), green/yellow wire together. This should start up the car and working reverse light.
