The mounting location for the center support bearing is a different size/width between late and early model E30's, as is the housing of the bearing itself. You just need to use the right CSB for your car. They aren't driveshaft-specific, just car-specific. The bearing is the same size.

But yes, you will need the larger flex disc. And forget about the vibration dampener, it does jack.

If you like. I honestly noticed no difference at all when I removed mine.

So late model driveshafts use small flexdisc and early model use large?

there are some discrepancies but 6/87 and older have the large size guibo i believe.

I forgot, you'll also need the larger size output flange for the tranny, that the driveshaft and flex disc mount to. An early model driveshaft with the larger mounting flange and flex disc won't mount to the smaller late-model output flange.

wellll crap i guess i wont be using the driveshaft i bought then, i dont feel like changing the output flange on the trans. unless its easy, i need that thin wall 30mm wrench or is it 32mm? i'll just run the driveshaft i have with the spicer u joints (rebuilt) that i was going to have rebuilt again and put in a nicer e30 when i got it, but this is getting to be a pita.
