    Please help - A/C compressor/hose compatibility issue

    Hi all,

I'm only posting in General because of a time constraint. I finally collected all the parts to retrofit my A/C to r-134a. All new hoses, receiver dryer, I rebuilt my NipponDenso compressor, etc. Everything was going great, until it was time for me to connect the new suction pipe to the compressor. Apparently, at some point the size of the connection changed and the hose is about 3mm larger than the connecter on the compressor. The connector attaches with two Allen screws, so I was wondering if anyone knows where to get a plate with a larger connector, if anyone HAS a plate with a larger connector, or if it just doesn't exist? I'm pretty put out right now because my car is (once again) out of service until I sort this out, and I'm nervous I spent the time and money rebuilding the wrong compressor...

Any help would be great, thanks!

    -Mike

P.S. The plate I'm referring to is on the right on this compressor. You can also see the difference in hose size in the next picture.

And no, that is not the rebuilt compressor.

I'll look at the compressors lying around tomorrow or Sunday to see if they have the plates of which you speak.

I am assuming that both plates are the same dimensions/will transfer from one side to the other, just with a different outlet pipe size?

        Thanks so much!
I'm assuming that as well, but this is all new to me. It's a NipponDenso 10P compressor, but I would assume if the plate resembles the one in that picture it would fit. I would assume only the suction side would have the correct size, but I've been proven wrong once already! : /

As far as the size, I don't remember the diameter of the pipe but the old hose had a 27mm nut and the new hose that doesn't fit has a 32mm nut. So any fitting that works with a 32mm nut would do the trick!

I couldn't find any compatible fittings on the compressors I had. However, I was up at Bimmerbuddies and saw one that looked to be right just sitting around. I am sure you could convince them to ship you one. Try contacting SmokeE30 via PM.

If you're right, I will internet-hug you. Thanks!
