    A couple ICV questions....

    [85 325e]
I just pulled my ICV off and cleaned it.
When I looked down inside it, the plunger thing in there had a ring of black stuff on it.
Now I'm not sure if that was just carbon junk, or some sort of black rubber sealing ring. I scraped that crap all out, and it was just bare metal when I was done.

Do the new ones have this black stuff on the flat of the plunger? ?

Cleaning didn't seem to make it any better, and eventually I will probably just pick up a new one.

Who has the best prices on new, or remanufactured idle control valves?
    Thanks

Am I the only one who has looked inside one of these with a flashlight? lol

Hmm, I cleaned mine on my 325es last year and I don't remember any rubber seal or o-ring of any kind. You really shouldn't be shoving stuff down in there though, I just sprayed mine out with carb cleaner for about 5-10 minutes. Seemed to help my idle a bit.

Well my idle was surging like a bitch today, annoying as hell.

Then I decided to turn the valve around and hook it up backwards. Worth a try.
At first it started, then shut off immediately.
Then I adjusted the bypass screw out to about halfway, and started it.

The thing idles almost perfect now at like 750 rpms.
          Go figure?

I have it set up so the nipple that comes out the top of the valve, goes to the engine, and the one that comes out the side, goes to the intake boot.
          That's backwards right?
