Dead AC and Smoke out the vents

Was driving to work today and the car started pouring smoke out the vents that smelled of burned electrical shit. Turned the AC button off and it stopped blowing smoke but no more cold AC and the compressor no longer engages when the button is pressed, though the idle changes. The AC fuse (20) isn't popped. What is the most likely area of harness that burned?

Maybe not an electrical issue? I had a similar situation a few weeks ago. It was a heat wave, something like 105 plus. I have a slow leak in the system, and the AC seemed not cold enough, so I tried to add some AC PRO crap. I think I added too much. When I drove it, after a few minutes I got a white vapor coming out of the vents. Turn off AC, no vapor. Turn on, vapor. Smells of chemicals. Then I noticed it coming from the hood on the passenger side. Pull over and pop the hood, and the AC hoses are spraying all over the place. I figured I f-ed it up and the extra refrigerant created too much pressure and blew the seals. And then the cabin air intake was sucking up the vapor and blowing into the cabin. When home and sulked.

A few days later, heat wave is gone and I forgot about it. But it's like 90 out and I turned on the AC. Works fine.

So maybe it's related to ambient air temp being so high that your system is over pressurized?

Perhaps, I will give it a shot tonight. Could make sense, definitely smelled like magic smoke from electrical issues. I did vent/add refrigerant yesterday too. Hrm.

Letting it sit didn't help, I will be pulling the fuse box apart today as that is the most likely area for smoke to get sucked through the vents. Will update.

Didn't see anything obvious in the fuse box, but I also didn't take the PCB out since it appears to be a gigantic pain. When I jump the compressor wire it runs so it's not the compressor clutch.
