    No crank, no start:(

1987 325is. Car is due for smog and has been sitting for about 4 months after a failed smog test. Gave her some love with new oil, new battery, and some seafoam to blow any crap out. Anyway car ran great no issues at all drove 30 miles before the test. When i arrive at the test shop I turn the heater on low to help with the heat(85+ today) and the rpms sputter or hesitate. Being curious about that was about turn the heater up to high and the rpms sputter and the car shuts off.

After it died no crank or anything. Dash lights on, but my in dash volt meter says lower and lower readings. The fuse box also makes a click as if the solenoid is working but nothing from the fuel pump or starter:(

    Any ideas where to start?

Not sure how to check if the battery is correct. I just brought my old one in and they gave me this one. Well got the car towed home and put the battery on the charger. The charger indicated it was very low voltage. I think my alternator is bad and I drained the battery dry on the way there listening to tunes. Will get the battery back on and see if it starts later tonight. Have a spare health alternator that I can throw in once I see if it starts on the freshly charged battery.

Thanks for a quick response. I think we all panic a little when something catastrophic seems to happen to our e30s. When things go wrong on this car usually it is gradually, never just stops working out of nowhere.
