    Replacing fuel tank - 91 325i

I have the old tank out and the new tank about to go in....and just like I've done countless times, I didn't take a pic or any notes on the connections because, "I'll remember" and of course, I don't.

So, I have done a search and I really haven't found anything definitive, so this is what I'm trying to figure out.

There are two plastic lines from my old tank that mount to the new tank. There is one plastic line that came with the tank. The one green line we'll call "A", the black one "B" and the one with tank covered in silver, "C"

"A" connects to the fuel pump -> Fuel Filter-> hard line to motor
"B" connects to the expansion tank (I believe the line is also black) and then routes along the tank and connects to what?
"C" connects to the expansion tank (green plastic line to expansion tank?)

How do you tell which line goes to the motor and which one is the return line going back to connect to the tank?

I'm attaching a pic for reference....doesn't show what "B" goes to.

I know this is something I don't want to mess up, so talking to all you experts

I have not done this work, but I know there is a vent line which goes to the charcoal canister up front. I haven't studied how it all works yet. I was thinking of replacing the hard fuel lines on mine sometime soon.

See Fig 2 in this link: http://www.autozone.com/autozone/rep...00c1528004a20b. Of course the 325i doesn't have an external fuel pump but the hose routings are the same.

Thanks, luckily I did some things right and when I reinstalled the tank, I could see how the old lines were configured and then I replace them one at a time....pretty easy to reinstall, but noticed my new tank did not have the fuel drain on the bottom....hopefully, wont need to do this again anytime soon
