    Transmission Damage :-(

Well I finally got my transmission from the gentleman in MN. Unfortuanatly he appearantly
was careless in his shipping preparations. The
shipping was delayed 1 day becuase it had to be repackaged. It also apears to have been bounced on the tailshaft cracking the housing and seal bore as well as deforming seal bore. I JB Welded the outside crack, filed the piss out of the seal housing and it still tore up the outside of the seal. Not Happy.

What really gets me is I voluntarily paid him an extra $25 for shipping preperations and to clean the tranny. The tranny was a complete mess and had to be hot tanked to get all the oil and grease off it.

I am happy to have the tranny just very disappointed in the lack of preperation that was taken. I even arranged the shipping so all he had to do was leave it outside. I also gave an additional 5 days so he could take his time because I know people are busy.

Was this from ebay? If it was I would complain. If not, then at least post some info so we can all beware, sounds like a horrible seller.

Yeha, you should ask for a refund man, it's his fault for now taking the proper steps to protect the tranny.

I have to make a correction. After having a conversation with the guy in MN it appears he did package it correctly and the fault appears to fall with UPS. I don't really want to blame anybody. I am just disappointed that the transmission got damaged. I am going to run it anyway and see how it goes. The guy even offered to give me my money back. Can't beat that kind of fairness.

Definately not. :D Sounds like an ok guy after all!

It should have been insured then, file a claim. Use that money to buy another. I would suggest taking pictures of whatever isn't fixed, for proof and whatnot.

          Goodluck man.

              FUCK UPS!!!

when i had my differential shipped they fucked it up too! it looked like it had been tossed around and dropped without any regard for what was in it. and as everyone knows when u toss an 80lb. diff... shits gona break, including what it lands on.

after i fought with them i got a refund to replace the cover but it was quite a fight.

              i state again, FUCK UPS!

Steve did send that trans. I don't believe I will use UPS again. I told Steve everything is cool and I will be taking up the issue with UPS. It was insured for $200. I will be installing the trans tommorrow night. Saterday I will be cruising it out to Pamona for the NHRA Winter Nationals. I have a feeling it will be fine.

I really want to make a public apology to Steve becuase I was pissed about the damage and had figured he didn't package it correctly. But from what I am hearing UPS doesn't have a very good reputation. Steve has a very good reputation and has been very honest and fair with the whole deal. I kinda feel like a dick for my original comments.

UPS is a rip off and i never ever have used them, worthless company if you ask me.

when i have to go with anyplace other then USPS its always Fed Ex and alwasy Fed Ex 2 day air as ground is far more expensive for me atleast to ship items.

                      Rough example:
Ground to ship rear spoiler: $20
                      Air: 8 bucks

So yeah i always use fed ex air since it gets there sometimes a day ahead and always never a day late

wow what a bunch a mumble anyway this is just my opinion and whatever on UPS

Umm, file a case with UPS.

you would be amazed how easy it is to get money out of that company.

Wow, sounds like I'm the only one who never had issues with UPS.

Now if you want to talk about USPS then I have more than enough issues w/ them....

To me Fedex owns fast shipping and UPS owns ground shipping. Enough said on that. However it amazes me how bad people can ship items, I mean people literally throw the item in a box and ship it. So if there was anyone to blame, I would go after the seller.

Update on transmission damage. I yanked the seal today and reworked the bore again.
The second seal went in much nicer. I installed the transmission tonight and it is everything the seller said it was. I works Bitchen!! Totally smooth, quiet, and I now have 3rd gear.
I kept skipping it and going to fourth becuase I was so used to not having 3rd.

I want to say again for the record that the seller fullfilled his end of the deal and I don't have any more to say about that. With the exception of the shipping bullshit everything is as promised.

I am happy to have a good working trans. The old one was wasted. You could hear the bearings grinding away from 10ft. It was very bad and I really don't understand why It didnt just completely break and blow gears all over the highway.
