    Central locking issue.

I'm having and odd issue with the central locking. I tried searching for ways to fix it here and other forums but had no luck. Anyways, the only door I can unlock with the key right now is the passenger door. I can manually lock the driver door, but if I lock both I have to unlock the passenger side first and then crawl through, which isn't too fun, so I just leave it unlocked for now.. The central locking used to work when I got the car, and then I made the mistake of trying to lock the car with the key on one of the doors. With my car, only the trunk lock will unlock/lock the doors and gas cap, but since trying to lock just one of the doors I've been having this issue.

Today I pulled out the central locking actuator that's located under the trunk lock, but pushing/pulling on it doesn't do anything. Is there a fuse blown somewhere? I'm sure the wiring is fine, since this issue was most likely cause by me messing with the door locks. Do I have to go into the doors and replace something? If anyone can point me in the right direction I'd really appreciate that.

You're going to have to find a way to reduce the possibilities. It sounds like you have a lot of separate issues.

If your key won't unlock the driver's door you probably need to rebuild the lock. Not hard, worth it. I used this write up: http://http://www.billswebspace.com/BMWE30DoorPanelRemoval-LockCylinderRebuild.htm

You should do this first and then move on to the next issues.

It sounds like your trunk lock was able to lock/unlock everything before you pulled it. Why did you pull it? Does it still lock/unlock everything? If so it would seem to indicate that your actuators are all receiving signal from the CLCU and able to operate.

It also sounds like your passenger door doesn't unlock the drivers door, is that right? Does it unlock the trunk and gas cap?

Why are you so sure there is no wiring issue? If the trunk can unlock the drivers door, but the passenger can't, then you either have a bad passenger actuator, a bad CLCU, or bad wiring.

Which door was the key in when you jammed it?

Semblance, when I bought the car only the lock from the trunk would actuate the central locking. I couldn't do it through the doors, which is why I think it messed up when I tried to force it in the door. So to lock both doors I had to put a key in the trunk and turn it one way to lock, the other way to unlock. I'll look into that lock rebuild also. I would like to be able to have central locking through both doors and the trunk, just to simplify it. And I messed it up on the passenger side door.

Yeah try the lock rebuild. When the mechanism starts to break it can fail to engage the actuator. At least you'll have a working driver's door lock again.

So is the trunk still able to lock and unlock the doors?
