    customer m20 gauge in m42

edit custom* in title, im an idiot

I found a 86 325i that has all new white gauges that have white LEDS that the rest is carbon fiber wrapped, it looks really clean and the guy said i can have it as long as i swap it out from mine. i have a 91 318i,

with these new gauges are their any new sensors anywhere on the car that would have to be done or is it as simple as pulling out the cluster unhooking the 3 wires and plugging it in mine?

thanks guys, if anyone could answer in the next 6 hours that would be great cuz i would have to go swap it right after work.

I'm sure the cluster is the same, but you need the correct coding plug....swap the coding plug (white plug on front) and you should be good to go

There is no such thing as an 86 325i in the US so that might be there first issue.

The early model cars and late model cars use a different gas gauge. If you don't swap them neither car will read correctly. Otherwise you can swap the coding plug as mentioned above if they both have the 7k tach.
