Trying to take 89 valance off; torx bolt question

I'm trying to take the bumper/valance off my 89 325is, but I don't have an attachment on my wrench for torx heads; can regular ratchets for hexagonal bolts do the job? If not, do I have to go to the hardware store to pick up one of these attachments? What size to remove bumper and valance?
    Thanks.

Go get the TORX heads. A single piece can cost half of what a set of 6 or 8 costs. There are other torx bolts/screws all over this and other vehicles. You might as well buy a set and invest in future mainenance projects.
    Let's go exploring!

      Dave,

Harbor Freight sells the whole set for like eight bucks.

T-55. Sears sells a Lisle brand impact Torx T-55 for $5, 3/8 drive.

thejimlab and I were trying to remove one of these Torx bolts this weekend, and the POS socket broke. But it worked like a champ when I removed my own valance.

Okay guys, I got the bumper off and now I'm looking at the valance.

Besides the obvious bolts in the front by the protrusions where the bumper hangs and the one small one on each side, what else do I have to take off? There are a couple plastic devices on the sides with 2 screws on each of them. How do I take this off? I can probably reach around and remove the bottom one, but I can't reach the top screw behind the fender. Do I have to remove the mud guards inside the wheel well to access this?

All right, it's finally the weekend and I'm really going to work on it today. Anybody know the exact # of total bolts and screws that are holding the valance to the car? Thanks.
