Rear windshield defroster help

Hi,

Took my car in for a tint and the rear windshield tint from the previous owner can't be taken off without scratching up the defroster lines.

I bought one at the salvage yard, the lines are intact (some have some darkening - looks like oxidation?).

My main concern is the side metal pieces - they show to be discolored/oxidized. I wiped them down and used some pb blaster lubricant and wipe them clean, but with no luck.

Does anyone here have experience with these? Will the defroster work despite the discoloration?
