Wiring in glove box, 325i swap

I'm doing a 325e to 325i swap and need to know how these wires from the 325i harness connect and what they are for. Thanks.

If you're talking about the ones hanging? I believe one goes to the glove box light.

You got the three pin connector in, thats the real important one. The other ones have to do with air conditioning, speedometer input, and something else I forget. Not all are connected in every model based on what options the car had and where it was sold.

i think the blue/white with black connector goes to the on board computer.

Thanks for the replies. Yeah the wires that are hanging are the ones I'm referring to. The blue white wire, which on board computer are you referring to? Are there specifics on which wire goes to which component?

Blue/white wire - connects ECM (on board computer = Motronics Control Unit) to AC controls so that the idle speed is bumped up when AC is on. See page 1360-6 (pin 41) in http://wedophones.com/Manuals/BMW/19...g%20Manual.pdf. I assume you have an early 325i harness.

Can't tell if the other 2 wires come out of the ECM harness or not and what color they are. A little more description would be helpful.

Yes the wires come from the harness and the harness is from an 87 325i (prod date 06/87). The colors of the three wires from left to right:

                1. blue/white - which you've described as the ac idle bump wire
                2. brown/red?
                3. blue/red?

I have a 87 325is harness in my car and just have the bpue /white connectors connected. The other 2 are just dangling. I've been driving my car over a year like that since I've done the e to I swap.

Awesome thanks. I'm going to hook up the blue/white wire and leave the other two free. Looking at the wiring diagram it looks like you've got it correct as it seems like they aren't required for the 325e.

                      Now on to the radio

                        brown/red - page 1360-7 - speed signal, not used
red/blue (?) - page 1360-8 - connects to auto trans shifter wiring, not need with manual trans
