Key in the ignition won't turn

I need some help. I have a 91 318is.

I go to turn it on yesterday and the key in the ignition will only turn 1 click, nothing further. Yes, I jiggled the steering wheel. 1 click unlocks the steering wheel, turns on the wipers, radio, and clock, but not the idiot lights on the dash. After that I can't turn it any further.

Seems like a lock issue to me. It's been getting cold in the 30's lately and I've shoved some lubricant down there and tapped on it with a hammer, but no luck.

If you can turn to position 1 then your tumbler is probably okay. It would be something post the tumbler. You will need to open up the steering column and look at the ignition switch. Take a look at the picture within the below link.
