    M40 to M20 wiring question

I have a 1990 316i and have found a complete donor 1989 325i car that was hit in the back. Originally planned to go the M52 route, but it has such low miles on it, I've decided to go with the M20 instead. I've never wired a car before, so I'm a bit apprehensive. Would I adapt the wiring harness plug from the M40 to the M20 harness and connect it to the C101? From what I've noticed, the top of the C101 has a cap over on it and nothing plugged into it for the M40 while the M20 car does have the wiring harness plugged into the top. Thanks in advance.

the motor harness is by the fuse box- you are looking at the service plug.
