Front strut bar, friendly with camber plates

    Hi all,

I want a front strut bar that does not interferes with camber plates. Currently I have a bavauto front strut bar and I love it but I am planning on getting camber plates so I am on the look up of a less intrusive strut bar.

    So far I have seen:

    1. Sparco, I really like that design because it not only supports the top of the tower but also it's side:

    2. Then we have IE's which is very similar:

    3. Finally something I found on Ebay and do not know if it's good quality or not, Ultra Racing:

So, am I missing other one? In terms of feedback and user experience which one would you recommend. I am thinking on IE's because I've bought other things from them in the past and I am satisfied with their quality. Comments welcomed...

Finally, I am also open to hear recommendations in regards to camber plates brands, the plan is to instal them on an E30 that is more track-day oriented and rarely used as a daily driver.

P.S.: (Mods, feel free to move this topic to the appropriate sub-forum if necessary.)

I don't see how camber plates would get in the way of any strut bar. Everything is mounted under the strut tower. The only thing you might have a problem with is the studs in the camber plate not being long enough, but you could probably swap those out if necessary.

Care to elaborate on your concern?

      This is bavautos design:

As you can see it covers the top of the strut mount where you would adjust a camber/castor plate.

IE, and the Sparco bar are essentially the same thing just different colors.

^ Thank you, I didn't explain myself well: it doesn't interfere with the camber plates per se, but with their adjusment nuts.

So, anyone running camber plates, what combo works best? I mean which camber plate brand couples well with which strut bar(s) and doesn't interfere with the adjusment nuts?

Thanks to all for the comments!

Ah, that makes sense. I couldn't find a decent picture of that strut bar and didn't think about it covering over the top of the bolts.

I'd recommend the Sparco bar. Even though IE's bar is the same, I've had more than one IE bar not fit correctly.

Ultra racing seems to have a good rep from what I've seen, though I haven't seen much about them in the BMW community. They also have one that allows you to bolt it to the towers and then preload the bar. It has treads and lock nuts in the center of the bar.
