Good Call!!!! Change the timing belt!

As some of you guys know, I bought that 90 325is not too long ago and decided to go ahead and change the timing belt for good measure (a few other things as well) Well..... the belt was just about ready to give in, the teeth were actually coming off the belt!

Do you know what condition your timing belt is in?

The recent owner of mine replaced mine in the price of what I bought the car which was cheap for what it should have been. But bros car just hit 160,000 and hasn't recieved a change...maybe time to get one.

Maybe????? Uhhhhhh yeah, get one. I did min 500 miles ago, I do them religiously. You have to with our cars, they don't take too kindly to timing belt failures.

Nope, the one I'm parting out is the head donor. :p I just pulled the head off the 88 which broke the belt and found no other damage, so I'm swapping the 89's (the one getting parted) head on instead of buying new valves, a rocker arm and going through all that work... I think mine is just an unlucky freak having the belt break that early though. I hope...

on the topic of timing belt failure... if a belt were to skip a tooth or so, what would the symptoms be? i just got home and on the way i r3ved her a little (i was cruising in third near redline, but my tach recently went out, and i think i may have overrevved the motor). so, now the engine feels like its running on 5 cylinders... and if you rev it up, u hear a loud pop which sounds like its coming from the intake mani (backfire? or bent valve? i hope not the latter)
