    unknown leak help

hi all, i have stored my 88vert for winter over 3 months. i have just spotted some liquid about 1' feet from the front of my car on the driver side. i tried to spot any leakage but couldn't find any except: i notice that the power steering hose from my reservoir is all sticky and gunky all the way down to where the "drips" collect. would this be a possible leak source? aside from that i dont see any leakage or "wet" spots on my engine block and so forth. my preliminary guess is the pwr steering section (either the resevoir or the hose). is this "possible"? how often, perse, do they leak? is it common? any input is appreciated. thanks in advance

Very common problem. You need to take out the old BMW hose clamps and put in some regular hose clamp and tighten up all the hoses.

Yes, the power steering supply and return hoses (the ones that go to the reservoir) will eventually leak. I recently replaced mine with power steering hoses from autozone and some new regular hose clamps. No more leaks and the cost is <$25 with new fluid.
This should be obvious, but when replacing the hoses don't throw out the banjo fitting that connects the supply hose to the compressor as you reuse it with the new hose. You will need 2 new crush washers for it.
