    Raceskids plate will it fit?

    Hello r3v,

I have just recently bought a raceskids skid plate on craigslist solely because the buyer was asking a low price. He noted that it was for dohc. Knowing that both the m/s5x motors and m42(my car is m42) are dohc, will the application be the same or will something not allow it to be installed?

The skid plate is intended to protect the oil pan. As long as it doesn't have interference with the oil pan, it technically will work. It really depends on the clearance and position of drain plug.

Typically, in E30-speak DOHC refers to the M/S5x motors. Raceskids sells different plates for the M20, M42, M3 and DOHC. But I agree with codyep3, as longs as it fits it should be OK. May be hard to get to the drain plug though.

Well when i have the time this weekend, ill try to install it. If it fits, ill post a photo of the drain plug fitment compared to the skid plate opening.

I doubt it will work all that well since the drain plug for the M42 is on the front of the pan and 6 cylinders are on the side.
