    Intermittent cruise control

Hello all, my cruise control has recently developed a screwy issue where it only works intermittently. Maybe it'll work, maybe not. When it does, it deactivates when I hit even a slight bump. Push forward on the stalk, works fine again. Of course, this tells me something is loose. It worked perfectly until I removed the head to rebuild it, although I took specific precautions to avoid this very thing. What might I be missing? Where does the vacuum line go? Help me sort this out.

is your cluster fully functional? if your speedo isn't working either will your cruise. mine has intermittent speedo and the cruise and eco meter only work when the speedo does.

Cruise doesn't have a vacuum line. There's a number of things you can check. Here's the list, easiest to hardest

      1. check that the line from the cruise module under the hood connecting to the throttle body is tight and secure and there's no slack
      2. check that the switch on the clutch pedal opens and closes when it should
      3. check the spedo send wire on the back of the cluster is plugged in
      4. check the cruise activation switch
      5. check the cruise ecu under the dash for corrosion
      6. check the cruise actuator behind the drivers headlight

Mine currently doesn't work but mainly because I haven't gotten around to checking the less convenient stuff

The CC also checks for the brake pedal switch. My bet is on that. In my E34, the switch was bad, yet the brake lights still worked, just no CC.

Delfin may have called it, there was quite a bit of slack in both cables on the TB. Tightened them down, we'll see how this turns out.
