    Help: One-touch + Auto-close window problem

    1989 325ix Sedan

Background is I have a proximity lock/unlock module and 4 one touch modules installed (one for each window). Shift console is off. Everything was working fine:

    1. One touch windows with car on
    2. Auto-close windows upon door lock with the car off

I disconnected the modules (I favor reversible installs) to physically position them pre-closeup. I reconnected them, now 3 of the windows continue to do #1 & #2. The driver’s side window only does #1. Utterly fails to do #2. The following list is the troubleshooting I’ve done so far. Each done (a few multiple times) in isolation of the others for clarity of results:

    * Swapped in a known good one-touch module: No change
    * Tested suspect one-touch module on working window: Checks out
    * Swapped in a known good window switch: No change
    * Tested suspect window switch on working window: Checks out
    * Swapped in a known good lock signal feed: No change
    * Tested suspect lock signal feed on working window: Checks out
    * Disconnected the other windows to verify there was enough amperage available: No change
    * Examined all fuses: Checks out
    * Disconnected the lock feeds to all window modules. Tested one by one by grounding the line. 3 auto-closed. Driver’s did not: No Change

On that last bit when grounding the lock signal wire to the modules, I hear a click on the passenger side when testing the passenger side front window; likewise when testing the driver side. Sounds like a relay. I checked the ETM wiring diagram and there doesn’t appear to be anything between the window motor and the wires leading to the switch (in this case via the one touch module which is in-between the switch and the motor at the center console). So it’s a mystery to me what’s clicking. Maybe it’s the motor? In any case it doesn’t roll up the window.

    Again 3 windows do both #1 & #2. The driver’s window only does #1.

All components I’m aware of appear to be in good working order. Other than the disconnect, repositioning of the modules, and reconnect, I am not aware of anything that has changed.

    I’m stumped! Any ideas? Please?

Any chance anyone knows what the click I'm hearing is? Sounds like a relay but according to the diagram, doesn't seem to be one in the circuit between the switch and the motor.
