e30, using the bellhousing from the 82 528e? Would I have to install a different or custom driveshaft? and would the 265 have a provision for the aluminum shift console? The m3 has the 265 and has an alum console. However, the 82 528e has the sheet metal console. Just an idea I had, as I may be able to hook up with a 265 for cheap.

The regular aluminum console will work, but you have to get the connector from the M3. Its a kind of U shaped piece that has holes for the pin to go thru the console, and extends down for the 2 13mm bolts that go into the tranny case.
