    Removal of blower assembly?

I'm a dumb ass for this... When i got the car it had the 3 spd fan issue. My resistor was bad. I have my DD 84 eta and a 89 vert for parts only. After looking into it, i didnt realized the 89 has 4 spd instead of 3 and the resistors were not the same. But my dumb ass thought they would work anyway -___-. I went ahead and cut up the resistor harness off the 89 so i can have the 4 prong plug and hard wired it to my eta and now its too late to go back and bring it back to the way it originally was. The blower motor wont sit in the housing properly and its movement is obstructed. Is there a way to replace the whole blower assembly? Not just the motor itself but the part thats housing the blower motor? If so how do i get to it? Is it just through the engine bay or i have to remove my dash?

I don't even know if my question made sense :(

From the sounds of it, it may be best to just use the 3 speed fan. Were you trying to convert it to 4 spd? I'm not sure if thats possible. Can you crimp or solder the 3 prong plug back on?

If you can't I'd imagine you would have to pull the dash in order to remove the whole HVAC system, It looks like this, I think this is for a later model, not an 84. I know the 84s run a bigger fan.

not necessarily trying to convert to 4 spd but I could I suppose? I already ordered a 3 spd resistor so I guess just stick with that for now. My main issue is having the blower sit back on the housing with no obstruction for the fans to move, since I messed with the wire harness and with the bulkiness of electrical tape and stuff it just doesn't sit right. I guess i'd have to pull the whole thing out, space is limited through the engine bay. So whole dash has to come off?

As far as the blower for the 84 compared to the 89, they're the same size cause I compared them.

If your just trying to replace the blower motor, put it in its mount and then rotate the actual motor. It should eventually sit snugly into place.
