    Wierd engine speed dependent noise

Im getting a wierd engine speed sensitve noise that is sorta like wooshing or change banging around a little in a cup. Any ideas? Its just engine speed sensitive, not load or car speed.

I call that the exhaust. Its very common on 99% of cars.

those 2 descriptions dont go well together, can you be more specific?

i mean i can be in gear at 3000 RPM (or any RPM, though the engine drowns it out at higher RPM) at full throttle or no throttle and the sound is still the same...

      cute first answer though. 8)

the wooshing could be alternator wine through your speakers.
it could also be from the fuel pump. my dad and mechanic said the same thing when i asked them about a whooshing noise even when the sterio had powered down
as for change rattling, that sounds like a different porblem. i would have to hear it.

It sounds to me like the heat shield on your cat is loose. Mine did the same thing. I changed the cat and it went away. Or it could be the exhaust heatshield.
I always thought it sounded more like ice in a blender though...

it was actually the turbo downpipe being wedged against the empt battery tray holder! i just bent it back a little bit, problem solved! Thanks
