    Oil check light stays on!

Not the cluster but check light. Have enough oil thats not the problem. Was driving down the road yesterday night and it popped on and wont turn off. Tomorrow morning I will check the grounds and the wires to the unit in the pan any other ideas or suggestions? Also can anyone tell me the ohms reading I should get when checking to see if the level indicator is faulty?

It's not a sensor, it's a switch. Either on or off, no in between. If I remember right, the light comes on when the switch is grounded, so you may have a short somewhere. The connector tends to get brittle and break, so it may be as simple as that.

My car has the old type sensor, there are 2 wires and ground passes through the casing itself to the sump and the sump ground strap to the chassis.

The newer type has a rectangular connector and a dedicated ground wire so there are 3 wires total.

The oil level light will activate if any of the wires are damaged. It is a bitch to solder in that position and if any of the wires has broken - copper is most likely corroded inside the insulation, might as well get a new unit, which is what I did eventually.
