It should take less than an hour. $50?

hmm doesnt sound damaging to a college budget. Figured it would be less than a dyno run

You could buy the kit and do it yourself for less than that. Its not difficult at all.

Craftsman kit is around $60. Its very easy to do yourself. Just remove the spark plugs, disconnect the coil mail wire, and start testing. The Craftsman kit is actually a very good kit and comes with lots of attachment options.

Pull the fuse or relay for the fuel pump and let the engine die before you pull the spark plugs, and make sure you hold the throttle wide open while you're cranking. Its also not a bad idea to have the battery on a charger while you're testing, so that the cranking speed doesn't slow down too much.

I'd check ebay for the compression kit. I've seen Craftsman sets for as low as $12, and a Mac one once for $25.
