Well I'm stumped.
OK So in my '88 325is (9/87) I have the following symptoms.
Symptoms include:
No fault codes via Check engine light. (this is not remedied with ECU reset)
Digital mileage indicator freezes on one consumption rate (XL/100KM), ECU reset helps this for an hour or so then it freezes on one mileage rate again.
Poor performance (lacks torque) ECU reset also helps the poor performance symptom, until it 'reverts' to its old tricks again.
Rich mixture - yes I've checked vac leaks, TPS, ICV, CTS, etc etc.. I have not replaced the Main relay but that would not explain the locked digital mileage would it? ECU reset seems to improve the mixture..
Archive search of Roadfly leads me to believe the performance chip can conflict with ECU... Upgrading from my 153 to an e-bay 173 DME (with new performance chip) did not work, same symptoms.
So I guess my question would be..is there something I have not considered?
I think its electonic, however it could also be some strange sensor reading that triggers an effect in the electronic system....
Thanks for help on an elusive problem.
